MATH: Please click on the following link to find out what we're learning in Math. We can explain to you what happens when you add two even numbers, two odd numbers and one even and odd. Will the answer always be odd? Even? How do you know? Ask me! I'll tell you! We're also using array representations to model addition problems. docs.google.com/document/d/1R_kYLz3HapMZv5n7iNBZRVRqYH7zIRtxq23cU0TZAds/edit READING: We've been reading up a storm! Our focus is on books in a series and using all we know about character traits to help us not only understand the story better but discuss the story with our friends! When we have book discussions, we use the details from the story to make it come alive with our words. We use evidence to support our opinions about the characters. Retelling the important parts of the story is helping us become better writers, too!
WRITING: We have many opinions and are learning how to state them clearly. One way to do this is by hooking our readers and introducing our topic and opinion by using appropriate transition words. Then, we focus on being very organized by giving our reasons to back up our opinions with a variety of examples. Using words such as First of all, Secondly and Finally are just a few examples of ways to begin the paragraphs. Lastly, we wrap up our piece with a strong conclusion by echoing our beginning. We can only become better writers by keeping our hand moving!
We are very proud of our many accomplishments! Ask me how to subtract 3 digit numbers and all about regrouping! Ask me what I include in all of my writing! Ask me for examples of literary language! Ask me about prefixes and suffixes! Ask me my math facts! Most importantly, let's read together!
